Description

TerraVerdae Bioworks (TVB) is an advanced biomaterials company whose technology is based on the use of biobased and biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). TVB has demonstrated the large scale production of PHA and is now focused on development of PHA biopolymer products. This project will develop biodegradable polymer and composite formulations with enhanced mechanical properties and functionality required for high valued applications. This will include development of PHA-based plastics that have controlled biodegradability, such as agricultural mulch films, where field applied films provide moisture conservation and weed barrier properties during the growing season and then degrade in place by the following spring.
