Project Description
This project aims to achieve equitable quality education for girls and boys particularly the poorest and most vulnerable in developing countries as well as in conflict crisis-affected and humanitarian settings. This project supports the implementation of the goals and objectives described in UNGEI’s Strategic Directions 2018-2023 document. As a leader in gender equality and education UNGEI works to increase awareness and participation of decision-makers in gender-responsive education sector planning and increase the data available to support the need for gender-responsive quality education in low-income countries. Project activities include: (1) organizing online and in-person learning events; (2) engaging in participatory institutional capacity gender reviews of selected ministries of education leading to development and sharing of tools information models and other evidence-based approaches to gender-responsive education through online and other channels; (3) influencing national education actors to improve their delivery of gender-responsive education through advocacy and capacity building in education governance and leadership; and (4) increasing access to evidence-based approaches to strengthen gender-responsive education systems particularly for crisis- and conflict affected fragile and humanitarian settings.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) enhanced collective action and advocacy among a wide range of national regional and international education actors through events and online campaigns that target key stakeholders; (2) increased capacity for gender-responsive governance and leadership in education among national education stakeholders through a participatory gender review and learning events; and (3) increased access to evidence-based approaches including tools and guidance on best practice for building and strengthening gender-responsive education systems.
