Project Description
This contribution represents Canada’s long-term institutional support to the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (MFMP). The Multilateral Fund uses these funds along with other donors’ funding to achieve its mandate. The Multilateral Fund provides support to developing countries to help phase out the use and production of substances that break down the earth's protective ozone layer. The destruction of the ozone layer allows increased ultraviolet radiation to reach the earth. This is detrimental to human health and diminishes the productivity of important food crops. The Multilateral Fund promotes technological change in developing countries by helping to increase the use of environmentally safe products and equipment through technical assistance the conversion of industrial facilities and strengthening key organizations. The Multilateral Fund secretariat is based in Montreal.
Expected Results
