Project Description

This project provides technical assistance from Health Canada to share best practices and safety and security procedures to prevent detect and respond to nuclear security incidents. Project activity includes providing subject matter expertise and guidance at a trilateral scenario-based policy discussion and tabletop exercise on a nuclear security incident at a major public event. This North American leader’s summit deliverable is aimed at strengthening continental response coordination to a nuclear or radiological security incident.

Expected Results

The expected outcome of this project includes strengthened capacity of North American stakeholder agencies to respond to an incident involving nuclear or other radioactive material at a major public event.

Progress & Results Achieved

Result achieved at the end of the project (February 2025) includes participated in the North American Leaders Summit Trilateral Multi-Scenario Tabletop Exercise on nuclear and radiological security held in Mexico City in January 2025. This Summit allowed to share Canadian best practices.
