Project Description
This project aims to support the planning and delivery of a 4-day conference in Sydney Australia. It seeks to bring together a multi-sectoral community of stakeholders to present the latest research and discuss policy and programming best practices and lessons learned. It also seeks to strengthen networks and a community of practice for global health security at the national regional and international levels. Project activities include: (1) identifying a venue for the conference; (2) administrating a bursary program to cover the conference costs of up to 15 health security experts and students from select African and Asian countries including women leaders; and (3) planning and organizing a dedicated conference with panels on biosecurity and gender equality.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened collaboration within the global health security community; (2) enhanced global response to biosecurity threats; and (3) strengthened access to networks and knowledge sharing within the global health security community.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of October 2024 include: (1) held conference in Australia with 1 236 delegates from 89 countries and territories; (2) held 109 panels and 295 poster presentations with 322 speakers 22 skills training workshops and 8 keynote sessions; (3) administrated 85 travel bursaries with 20 bursaries sponsored by Canada; and (4) 78% of survey respondents reported that their participation led to strengthened collaboration with the global health security community.
