Project Description
The project aims to provide data-driven evidence through Development Initiatives to inform decisions and better advise how resources could be allocated and used more effectively to meet the needs of those vulnerable to and affected by crises. Development Initiative’s Global Humanitarian Assistance (GHA) Programme for 2022 to 2024 seeks to analyze promote and improve access availability and use of open data on humanitarian and broader crisis response. Project activities include: (1) generating and sharing data analysis and evidence describing and explaining key trends on needs and financing in crisis contexts; (2) engaging in reforming humanitarian financing through consolidated recommendations; (3) Informing and shaping efforts to deliver coherent coordinated and accountable programming and financing to address risk vulnerability and crisis through data analysis; and (4) improving the understanding access availability and use of open data on humanitarian needs and crisis financing through technical guidance and awareness-raising activities such as engaging in key fora.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced knowledge and understanding of key trends and developments in humanitarian and broader crisis financing and response; (2) enhanced awareness of good practices opportunities options challenges and barriers for more effective and efficient humanitarian and crisis response resourcing; and (3) improved knowledge of the importance availability and use of open data in humanitarian and broader crisis response. It also seeks to improve access to practical solutions to enable greater availability and use of open data.
