Project Description
January 2017 - This project is part of the 2017 United Nations-coordinated Humanitarian Response Plan for the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Projects under this appeal help to reduce the vulnerability of Palestinians especially women and children affected by the ongoing crisis. Palestinians endure high rates of poverty unemployment and food insecurity. Internal displacement and recurrent conflict have eroded coping mechanisms and necessitate a humanitarian response focused on protection. Of the 4.8 million people who live in the West Bank and Gaza the United Nations estimates that approximately two million will need some form of humanitarian assistance in 2017. With GAC’s support the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) helps to reduce the vulnerability of Palestinians especially women and children affected by the ongoing crisis. Project activities include: (1) providing humanitarian partners with strategic effective and gender responsive humanitarian analysis; and (2) coordinating advocating and managing information services to effectively address and respond to the humanitarian situation in the West Bank and Gaza.
Expected Results
The expected results for this project include: (1) effective support to humanitarian actors through monitoring analysis and reporting on the humanitarian situation; and (2) effective coordination and management of the humanitarian programming cycle including planning and monitoring. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
