Project Description
This project aims to reduce vulnerability to forced disappearances torture and violence posed by organized crime in El Salvador. The project activities include: (1) creating a national task force for development of case management; (2) drafting protocols on chain of custody (forensics and legal) for cases of forced disappearances and torture in connection with organized crime; (3) training trainers in the delivery of courses on organized crime; and (4) supervising training by trainers in four districts of El Salvador.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) developed national framework for the investigation prosecution and adjudication of cases of forced disappearances and torture in connection with organized crime in line with international norms and standards; and (2) increased investigation of cases of forced disappearance and torture cases in connection with organized crime through piloting of corresponding case management toolkit.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of August 2020 include: (1) national framework for the investigation prosecution and adjudication of cases of forced disappearance torture in connection with organized crime in line with international norms standards; (2) increased investigation of cases of forced disappearances and torture in connection with organized crime.
