Project Description
The project aims to reduce barriers to education for girls in crisis and conflict affected areas in Niger. It aims to improve access to and quality of education and to build the capacity of the education system to better respond to the specific needs of girls and increase girls' retention in school both at primary and secondary levels. Project activities include: (1) carrying out analyses on the prevalence and impact of gender-based violence among girls; (2) providing training on COVID-19 prevention and on the creation of personal hygiene supplies; and (3) creating and broadcasting messages on awareness and protection against COVID-19 via community radio stations.
Expected Results
The expected results of this project include: (1) improved community demand for gender-sensitive education at pre-school primary secondary and vocational training levels for girls; (2) improved educational provision for girls adolescent girls and female teachers including in emergency situations; and (3) improved governance of the education system for optimal performance in girls' education and women's empowerment particularly in underserved rural areas and conflict affected areas.
