Project Description
January 2021 - The ongoing crisis in Syria continues to be a driver of displacement and humanitarian needs throughout the country. Over ten years into the conflict an estimated 13 million people remain in need of humanitarian assistance. This includes more than 2.7 Internally Displaced People many of whom live in informal and overcrowded settlements where access to essential needs and services is inadequate. Years of active conflict and displacement have exacerbated protection risks and increased vulnerability for millions and humanitarian access to those most in need remains a significant challenge. With GAC’s support this project works to provide water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services to up to 218 450 beneficiaries. Project activities include: (1) reparating and restorating water distributions water treatment stations and WASH facilities; and (2) providing essential gender-appropriate hygiene items to vulnerable households.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved access to safe water and water sanitation and hygiene facilities for vulnerable women men girls and boys; and (2) improved access to essential gender-responsive non-food items to conflict-affected households. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
