Project Description
This project supports the 2022 and 2023 Canadian Conference on Global Health (CCGH). This conference is the largest annual Canadian global health forum. It provides a platform for Canadian and low- and middle-income country global health practitioners researchers policymakers and community advocates to share knowledge experience and promote innovation and collaborative action to address key global health challenges. The CCGH aims to identify barriers and bottlenecks that may hinder attaining inclusive global health and universal health coverage goals. Project activities include: (1) increasing dialogue with research community policy and practice actors across disciplines in health and other sectors to improve health equity; (2) conducting sessions on gender equality and health equity represented through cross-cutting themes; and (3) conducting sessions on power and approaches to working inclusively and collaboratively in the global health space.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased global health engagement collaboration and knowledge transfer of global health issues among participants; and (2) increased incorporation of gender equality within global health strategies policies or programs within and across countries.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of March 2023 include: (1) hosted 620 attendees including 284 in-person participants and 408 online; (2) organized 220 speakers with 26 of them serving as keynote plenary speakers; (3) conducted various events including five plenary sessions 12 symposia 63 oral presentations 39 posters (20 in-person and 19 virtual) three workshops and other special sessions; and (4) organized two networking events that fostered discussions about global health across multiple disciplines.
