Project Description

December 2020 - During conflicts natural disasters and other complex emergencies sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs must not be overlooked. It is essential to ensure that life-saving interventions related to SRH services and protection from and response to sexual and gender-based violence are provided. With GAC’s support the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is contributing to meeting the SRH needs of vulnerable populations particularly women and girls. Project activities include: (1) providing emergency obstetric SRH services; (2) preventing mitigating and responding to gender-based violence including psychosocial support; and (3) strengthening humanitarian operations and capacity including boosting supply chain and logistics management.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved sexual and reproductive health of vulnerable populations; and (2) increased protection from gender-based violence. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or that are food insecure.
