Project Description
This project supports the work of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in promoting the ratification and implementation of international legal frameworks against nuclear terrorism globally. Project activities include hosting an international workshop on the universalization of the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and its 2005 Amendment.
Expected Results
The expected outcome of this project includes increased accession to nuclear security related conventions by member states.
Progress & Results Achieved
Result achieved as of April 2018 includes a successful Global Workshop on the Universalization of the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and its 2005 Amendment. This workshop occurred in Vienna Austria from 20 to 21 March 2018.
