Project Description
This project funds the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) to conduct outreach in Asia to raise awareness about Iran sanctions. The project also seeks to produce a research paper on the efficacy of the Procurement Channel mechanism and "snap-back" sanctions.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project includes: (1) increased awareness of the sanctions relief provisions of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and UN Security Council Resolution 2231 among experts in participating governments and industries; and (2) increased awareness of the effectiveness of the JCPOA procurement monitoring provisions and the United States “snap-back” provisions.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (May 2018) include: (1) successfully organized an outreach seminar on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) procurement mechanism on October 26 2017 in Seoul. The seminar provided information and knowledge to experts and raised awareness of a set of issues among governments that typically have little exposure to them; (2) published a research paper on the JCPOA's procurement mechanism on March 29 2018.
