Project Description
This project aims to advance Canadian biosecurity priorities within the G7-led Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction (‘Global Partnership’). Project activities include: (1) organizing and delivering individual conferences; (2) developing the Global Partnership’s Signature Initiative to Mitigate Biological Threats in Africa; (3) enhancing coordination to strengthen the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention; and (4) identifying opportunities for the continued evolution of the Global Partnership.
Expected Results
The expected outcome of this project is increased effectiveness of international efforts to mitigate biological threats globally.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of March 2021 include: (1) developed a proposal for a cross-regional collaborative to strengthen the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention; (2) created an outreach strategy to strengthen Global Partnership coordination and communications; and (3) created terms of reference for the Signature Initiative to Mitigate Biological Threats in Africa.
