Project Description
This project aims to assist the Government of Sierra Leone in strengthening biosafety and biosecurity by mitigating threats posed by samples of Ebola Virus Disease and other high-consequence pathogens in Sierra Leone. Project activities include supporting the participation of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation staff in relevant biosafety and biosecurity training in support of the secure biological containment laboratory and biobank provided by Canada.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) ensure safe and secure practices is implemented in the storage and processing of laboratory samples including high-consequence pathogens; and (2) the enhanced ability of laboratory technicians to effectively maintain the facility.
Progress & Results Achieved
Result achieved as of November 2022 is the completion of stakeholder consultation.
