Project Description
This project aims to provide resources and tools to disarmament diplomats national policymakers and institutions to counter Russian disinformation campaigns targeting Article X of the Biological Weapons Convention (BTWC). Project activities include: (1) creating and maintaining a dedicated website; (2) developing and delivering bespoke stakeholder briefings; (3) developing and providing case studies; (4) providing “How-to-kits” to counter disinformation; (5) creating and providing explainer videos; and (6) providing promotional and mixed media.
Expected Results
The expected outcome for this project is improved counter-narratives to Russian disinformation campaigns targeting BTWC Article X activities including in Ukraine.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of February 2023 include: (1) five stakeholders briefings delivered on disinformation campaigns targeting the Biological Weapons Convention (BTWC) and biological and health facilities disinformation risk assessments and counter disinformation strategies and best-practices according to academic research; (2) five case studies including videos and written materials released; (3) website created and maintained; (4) six ‘explainer videos’ on disinformation published; (5) six policy briefs created and published on project website; and (6) overall over fifty diplomats and relevant BTWC officials attended briefings on disinformation and over 20 ‘tools’ (videos policy briefs and publications) created and made available to diplomats and relevant BTWC officials.
