Project Description
This project aims to explore the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT) as a unique method to track chemical materials of proliferation concern. Project activities include: (1) developing a platform to track Chemical Weapons Convention Schedule 2 and 3 chemicals transfers; and (2) developing communications materials for partner outreach.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include (1) improved monitoring by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons of transfers of selected scheduled chemicals by member states; and (2) reduction of annual reported transfer discrepancies of these selected scheduled chemicals.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of May 2023 include: (1) updated the Monitoring and Tracking of Chemicals (MATCH) prototype to include the top three most commonly traded Schedule 2 and 3 chemicals; (2) drafted five fact sheets; (3) the project webpage recorded 522 recorded visits; and (4) online related project resources received 1073 visits (fact sheets announcements etc.).
