Project Description
This project supports the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to improve the effectiveness of its information security management capabilities in preventing cyber-attacks and strengthen capabilities to conduct and implement investigative and identification operations related to chemical weapons use verification and monitoring (including in Syria) through the use of 3D scanning technology. Project activities include: (1) upgrading information technology at existing OPCW facilities; and (2) evaluating and supporting the usability of applying 3D scanning and photography to model and forensically document chemical weapons incidents.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced ability of the OPCW to conduct and implement investigative and attribution operations related to chemical weapons use verification and monitoring; and (2) increased security safety and capabilities of the OPCW.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of December 2022 include: (1) procurement and installation of security networks and cyber-upgrades; and (2) procurement and testing of 3D site modelling and forensic software.
