Project Description
This project aims to strengthen Jordan's capacity to detect and prevent the illicit trafficking of nuclear or radiological materials at the King Hussein Bridge border crossing and the air cargo facilities of the Amman Civil Airport in Jordan. Project activities include: (1) supplying installing and commissioning radiation detection equipment at the two sites; and (2) delivering related operational and maintenance training to personnel of Jordan’s Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission.
Expected Results
The expected outcome of this project is the effective operation and maintenance of radiation detection and identification equipment by Jordan's Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission personnel at the King Hussein Bridge border crossing and the air cargo facilities of the Amman Civil Airport in Jordan.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (October 2017) include: (1) increased access to radiation detection equipment by personnel of Jordan's Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) at the King Hussein Bridge border crossing and the air cargo facilities of the Amman Civil Airport in Jordan; and (2) increased knowledge and skills of EMRC personnel on the operation and maintenance of the equipment.
