Project Description
This project provides critically required demining equipment and related personal protective equipment to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) as part of Canada's support to Ukraine in the face of Russia's unprovoked and illegal invasion. Project activities include: (1) supplying six remote-controlled demining vehicles (suitable for clearing landmines from agricultural lands and other large open areas); and (2) delivering operational and maintenance training to a cadre of SESU personnel who can then deliver this training to their colleagues in the future.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include an increased capacity of SESU personnel to clear landmines and other unexploded ordnance from agricultural land and other large open areas enabling this territory to be returned to productive use.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (November 2023) include: (1) access to six remote-controlled demining vehicles by personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU); and (2) increased knowledge of the operation and maintenance of these units by eighteen SESU personnel.
