Project Description
This project aims to support the planning and delivery of a virtual conference to enhance biosecurity in Africa. Discussions will focus on the need for comprehensive legislative action adequate and sustained system financing and strategic communications to build the necessary political will for domestic advancement and regional and continental leadership. Project activity include: (1) organizing and delivering a virtual conference on Strengthening Biosecurity and Pandemic Preparedness in South Africa held between 8-12 November 2021.
Expected Results
The expected outcome for this project is increased sustainable regional biosafety and biosecurity strategy enacted.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of January 2022 include a developed declaration of principles for strengthening biosecurity and pandemic preparedness.
