Project Description

The project aims to enhance women and girls’ social and economic growth. It focuses especially on women from Dalit and most vulnerable groups by relying on proven poverty reduction measures. The project ensures that these women know about their human rights and can claim them. It focuses on micro and small-scale enterprises adapting to climate change enhancing their performance and increasing their access to the products and services they need. The project also works to strengthen women’s and girl’s aspirations confidence decision-making autonomy and leadership. In parallel it promotes a strong sense of community inclusion and sisterhood enabling them to effectively engage in their communities. Project activities include: (1) enhancing agricultural livelihoods through diversification and best practices; (2) increasing the membership of community-level women’s groups; (3) increasing community knowledge and understanding of human rights issues affecting the most vulnerable women and girls; and (4) increasing capacity of local partner non-governmental organizations serving women and girls to advocate for human rights.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved economic status of women and girls particularly from Dalit and most vulnerable groups; (2) increased participation and leadership in community decision-making by women particularly by Dalit and most vulnerable groups; and (3) enhanced exercising of human rights by women and girls particularly from Dalit and most vulnerable groups.

Progress & Results Achieved

Results achieved as of March 2022 include: (1) recruited 853 active members of the village women’s groups; (2) supported 699 women members in diversifying their economic activities; (3) 848 members have improved their knowledge and skills for climate change adaptation and sustainable agriculture; and (4) hosted 460 members during human rights workshops.
