Support to the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement Secretariat - II

The mandate of the SUN Movement Secretariat is to coordinate efforts within the SUN Movement and to track the success of the Movement in ending undernutrition. The Secretariat seeks to ensure that SUN countries receive the support they need to achieve their nutrition objectives and provides coordination support to the different actors engaged in scaling up nutrition efforts. With DFATD support and the funding support of other donors the SUN Movement Secretariat provides support to the SUN Lead Group members of which are high-level leaders committed to nutrition to maintain stewardship over the SUN movement sustain global political attention on nutrition and mobilize resources to address undernutrition. With SUN countries the Secretariat continues to provide support to countries in their efforts to bring together national stakeholders to implement effective actions to scale up nutrition actions by ensuring SUN countries have timely access to the technical expertise they need. The Secretariat also provides support to countries to track their progress in scaling up nutrition.

The expected results for this project include: (i) enhanced political attention to undernutrition; (ii) increased investments in nutrition; (iii) improved response to SUN country technical assistance needs; (iv) increased capacity of SUN countries to bring together national stakeholders and implement effective actions to scale up nutrition; (v) effective monitoring of country progress in scaling up nutrition; and (vi) increased number of countries actively working to improve nutrition.
