Project Description
This project aims to strengthen Jordan's capacity to detect and prevent illicit trafficking of nuclear or radiological materials at two airport facilities in Jordan. Project activities include: (1) supplying handheld radiation detection and identification equipment for use at the two sites; and (2) delivering related operational and maintenance training to personnel of Jordan’s Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission.
Expected Results
The expected outcome for this project is the effective operation and maintenance of radiation detection and identification equipment by personnel of Jordan's Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission at two airport facilities in Jordan.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (June 2020) include: (1) increased access to handheld radiation detection and identification equipment by personnel of Jordan's Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) at two airport facilities in Jordan; and (2) increased knowledge and skills of EMRC personnel on the operation and maintenance of the handheld equipment.
