Project Description
This project supports the efforts of the International Atomic Energy Agency to promote adherence to its Code of Conduct on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources. Project activities include: (1) organizing international meetings of legal and technical experts on implementing the code of conduct; and (2) providing travel assistance for experts from developing states to attend these international meetings.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened national legal regulatory and policy regimes for control and accountancy of radioactive sources; and (2) improved ability for experts in developing states to engage in activities to promote the code of conduct.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved at the end of the project (June 2021) include: (1) organized 3 major international meetings for technical and legal experts in June 2018 May 2019 and August 2021 (virtual); and (2) provided travel support for 105 participants from 99 International Atomic Energy Agency member states.
