Project Description

This project funds the International Atomic Energy Agency to support the multi-donor effort to monitor Iran’s compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action a multilateral agreement to ensure that Iran’s nuclear program is used exclusively for peaceful purposes.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) funded salary costs for inspectors and other relevant staff; and (2) supported necessary travel and support services to permit inspection and monitoring activities in Iran.

Progress & Results Achieved

Results achieved as of the end of the project (December 2018) include: (1) provided partial funding for 28 positions including nuclear safeguards inspectors analysts engineers and lab technicians; and (2) provided travel support to International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors and staff. This resulted in 680 verification activities in Iran including uranium conversion reprocessing and enrichment heavy water production and nuclear fuel fabrication.
