Project Description
This project supports activities that respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in Mozambique. Project activities include: (1) providing psychosocial support to mentors and girls; (2) strengthening the referral pathway and response to existing and potential cases of violence against girls and young women; (3) strengthening sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) services in targeted districts; and (4) mobilizing and training a network of adolescent and youth change agents who can inform co-design and support the COVID-19 response prevent its spread and mitigate its secondary impact.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased psychosocial support on gender-based violence (GBV) child marriage teenage pregnancy and sexual exploitation and abuse for 6 000 mentors and girls; (2) increased access to sexual and reproductive health/GBV services through mobile clinics during the pandemic for 250 000 girls and young women; and (3) increased awareness on how to prevent infection and transmission of COVID-19 and mitigate secondary impacts for 500 000 adolescents and youth.
