Project Description
This project aims to improve governance for gender-responsive fisheries in the Caribbean and enhance fisheries management particularly for women girls and youth. This project supports the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) an institution of CARICOM. With this support the CRFM is working with Caribbean countries to collect and analyse data to update or develop the national fisheries sector plans to mainstream gender equality decent work and youth considerations. This project facilitates engagement with both government and non-government entities to ensure the representation of women and youth in key decision-making positions/platforms and to collect gender-related data on the contribution of fisheries to food security income and employment.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased inclusion of women and youth in policy dialogue and fisheries governance mechanisms; (2) increased capacity of government and non-government entities to mainstream gender in fisheries management.
