Project Description
This project is part of the Civilian Deployments Platform which provides Canadian experts to organizations to support increased peace security and stability. This project focuses mainly on women and girls in fragile and conflict-affected states. This project deploys a Canadian expert to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) to support the development and delivery of internationally recognized security and peace support operations courses in French and English. Courses offered are taken by military police/gendarmerie and civilian personnel from troop contributing countries and police contributing countries across the African continent.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) enhanced knowledge among Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) staff of results-based management principles; and (2) enhanced capacities of the KAIPTC in results-based management.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of July 2020 include: 1) completed a baseline assessment study of KAIPTC’s 2019-2023 Strategic Plan to support the planning of activities for the following five years; 2) presented the progress made in implementing activities and the achievement of outcomes to KAIPTC’s Governing Board Meeting strengthening the organization’s internal governance and enhancing donors’ confidence; and 3) developed stakeholder satisfaction surveys across all service lines enhancing the organization’s internal governance and improving its programming. This deployment successfully achieved the changes sought in the expected results. Through the sustained contribution of this civilian expertise the overall knowledge and awareness of results-based management principles increased.
