Project Description

The project supports the nationally driven peace process in Mozambique through a basket fund managed by the Swiss Government. The main activities focus on demobilization disarmament and reintegration (DDR) in selected provinces. The project aims to contribute to a peaceful settlement of the conflict between the Frente de Libertaçao de Moçambique (FRELIMO) and the Resistência Nacional Moçambicana (RENAMO) thus contributing to an enabling environment for inclusive development and sustainable poverty reduction.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) enhanced implementation by the Government of Mozambique and RENAMO of the agreement on DDR; (2) improved enabling environment for dialogue in support of the peace process; and (3) strengthened capacity of the Commission and Joint Technical Groups to deliver on their mandate.
