Project Description
This grant represents Canada’s long-term institutional support to the International Trade Centre (ITC). The ITC uses these funds along with other donors’ funding to achieve its mandate. The ITC is the technical co-operation agency of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). It acts as the focal point within the United Nations system for trade-related capacity building.
Expected Results
Ultimately the ITC aims to increase the international competitiveness of micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). To achieve this it seeks to reach four intermediate outcomes: 1) policymakers integrate business interests; 2) trade and investment service institutions better support MSMEs; 3) MSMEs introduce changes in their operations; and 4) market partners open up value chains.
