Project Description
The project supports the work of the Organization for Security and Co-operation (OSCE) Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine. The SMM is a multinational unarmed civilian mission present on the ground in all regions of the country at the request of the Government of Ukraine. The goal of the SMM is to contribute to reducing tensions and to foster peace stability and security as well as to monitor and support the implementation of OSCE principles and commitments. Project activities include: (1) observing and reporting in an impartial and objective way on the security situation in Ukraine; and (2) facilitating dialogue and helping to establish local ceasefires.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) ensured impartial and objective monitoring and reporting to the OSCE participating States on the situation in Ukraine; and (2) ensured monitoring pertaining to the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms as well as dialogue facilitation.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of July 2020 include: (1) impartial and objective monitoring and reporting to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe participating States on the situation in Ukraine; and (2) continued monitoring of the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
