Project Description

The project aims to provide support to the UN led Syrian peace negotiations. Negotiations work to allow the UN to further understand the positions of the parties with respect to a political transition and advance a negotiated political settlement to the conflict.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) conducted negotiations between the Government and the Syrian opposition; (2) technical support for the negotiations is mobilized including facilitators and subject matter experts; (3) key partners regional organizations and relevant Member States are engaged to coordinate international support for intra-Syria talks; and (4) information is gathered and analysis is conducted on the role the UN may have to play in the implementation of a political agreement on Syria.
