Project Description

In 2015 the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations (HIPPO) argued for “improved analysis strategy and planning” and the establishment of “an analysis and planning capacity to support UN peace operations”. In September 2015 the United Nations Secretary-General announced he would establish a small centralized analysis and planning capacity in his office to draw on and compile information and analysis across the United Nations (UN) system to prepare strategic considerations and options for possible UN responses. This project provides funding to support the planning unit until its budget can be regularized.

Expected Results

The expected outcome for this project is strengthened UN planning capabilities for UN peace operations.
