Global Donor Platform for Rural Development (GDPRD) - Extension 2014-2015

This contribution represents DFATD's ongoing support for GDRPD efforts while it shapes its next Strategic Plan (2016-2020) aligned with the Sustainable development goals. The GDPRD is an informal network of 39 bilateral and multilateral donors who share a common interest to increase the level of investment and effectiveness of agricultural development assistance. The donor platform has significant influence over development policy and programming including but not limited to shaping the African agricultural agenda facilitating dialogue on making agriculture more climate-smart and fostering knowledge sharing on donor perspectives on the post-2015 agenda.

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) Increased expertise and capacity of agriculture and development practitioners from Platform members to deliver better agriculture and rural development policy and programming (2) Increased implementation of aid effectiveness measures related to agriculture and rural development by stakeholders (3) Increased awareness and knowledge of the needs of the rural poor and priority issues related to agriculture and rural development in developing countries (4) Increased investment in agriculture and rural development in developing countries by key stakeholders (5) Improved policy and coherence programs for agriculture and rural development by Platform members; and (6) Increased prioritization of agriculture by Platform members and global partners.
