Project Description
This project seeks to support the development of more robust humanitarian financing data in order to help provide effective and efficient humanitarian assistance and sufficient funding where needed throughout the world. This project works to enhance the evidence base on humanitarian financing for decision-makers and develop an understanding of the needs of resources required and data gaps to provide humanitarian assistance to crisis-affected populations especially women and children. Project activities include: (1) developing subject-specific reports and briefings; (2) contribute to the production of the Global Humanitarian Assistance (GHA) Report; (3) investing in the online Development Data Hub through which users can access financial and resource flow data alongside poverty social and vulnerability indicators; (4) engaging in key humanitarian fora to increase awareness and use of Development Initiative’s research and evidence; (5) consolidating Development Initiative’s research to help make it a trusted platform for information and analysis about crisis financing; and (6) continuing the “helpdesk” service which directly responds to users to help them understand and use the Development Initiative’s data and analysis.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) strengthened evidence and analysis to align resources with people’s needs and risks; (2) better evidence leading to improved effectiveness of humanitarian financing; (3) better evidence for improved collaboration to address the risks and consequences of humanitarian crises; and (4) better quality and more accessible data on crisis-related financing used at the global national and local levels. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
