Project Description
With GAC’s support World Vision Canada is providing emergency water sanitation hygiene nutrition and protection assistance for up to 118 306 conflict-affected people in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state. Project activities include: (1) supporting 9 water treatment systems and rehabilitating waterpoints in 10 targeted schools; (2) supporting community-based management of acute malnutrition; (3) providing messaging on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) best practices to 28 181 pregnant and lactating women 7 500 women of childbearing age and 5 500 men; and (4) reaching 12 000 women men boys and girls with gender-based violence services and referral information.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased access to safe drinking water and safe sanitation and hygiene practices among conflict affected populations; (2) increased access to life saving nutrition treatment and prevention services for children under five and pregnant and lactating women; and (3) increased access to protection services for conflict affected populations. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
