Project Description

This project supports the deployment of improvised explosive device (IED) clearance experts to survey critical infrastructure and to locate and clear explosive hazards in order to enable the stabilization efforts in liberated areas. The project also works to develop a local capability for IED clearance by training local Iraqis and by delivering hazardous environment awareness training to the local population including women and children residing and working near clearance sites.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) decreased contamination of critical infrastructure sites which provide essential services to women men boys and girls in Anbar and Ninewah; and (2) decreased risk posed to women men boys and girls in Anbar and Ninewah by IEDs and other explosive hazards.
