Project Description
The project supports the implementation and strengthening of the Human Rights Up Front (HRUF) initiative. The HURF initiative outlines the overall efforts and obligations to engage more proactively strategically and creatively with the United Nations (UN) System Organizations Member States UN Country Teams and other stakeholders in situations at risk or subject to serious violations of international human rights and humanitarian law. This includes the rights of women and girls and all marginalised groups disproportionately impacted in conflict situations. The project also supports the UN Office of the High Commissioner to significantly enhance its capacity to prepare and respond to potential and emerging crisis situations at the country level.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) enhanced capacity to deal with crises in fragile and conflict related states through the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinators UN Country Teams and Humanitarian Country Teams system by providing strategic advice capacity and support; (2) increased capacity to gather and analyze human rights information and provide early warning alerts particularly in relation to fragile and conflict related states; and (3) enhanced coordination and crisis response including in fragile and conflict affected states.
