Project Description
The project aims to provide support to the Colombian National Army's Centre for Strategic Analysis in order to inform the Centre’s work on the Army’s transformation process to a more peaceful environment. Project activities include: (1) analysing regional and international trends; (2) diagnosing the Colombian Army's capacities including gender; and (3) providing support in facilitating dialogue between the different actors in Colombia (legislators army hierarchy academics civil society etc.) regarding the Army’s role in a peace context.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased effectiveness in decision-making by the Colombian Army with regards to peacetime challenges including fulfilling its role of preventing violence and the protection of vulnerable populations including women; (2) increased effective dialogue between stakeholders including women’s groups regarding the Army’s role in a peacetime context in Colombia; and (3) increased regional and international recognition of the peacetime role of the Colombian Army including its possible role in international operations.
