Project Description
This project aims to support the growing National Commission of Indigenous Women in Colombia (CONAMIC) as a network that can contribute to building peace and fostering post-agreement security in Colombia by strengthening the capacities and the legitimacy of Indigenous women as agents of change in their own communities and at the national level. Project activities include: (1) providing training on monitoring the implementation of Colombia's Peace Agreement and localization of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women Peace and Security; (2) reporting on UNSCR 1325 and implementing the Peace Agreement from an Indigenous women's perspective; and (3) building the organizational capacity of CONAMIC.
Expected Results
The expected outcome for this project includes: increased participation of Indigenous women in the implementation of the Colombian peace process.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (March 2019) include: (1) 29 Colombian Indigenous women increased capacity at monitoring and documenting the implementation of the Colombian Peace Agreement; and (2) 28 Colombian Indigenous women take part in tasks related to the implementation of the Colombian Peace Agreement through their membership in the women's Indigenous organization "National Council of Indigenous Women of Colombia".
