Project Description
The project aims to support an Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) in Colombia to verify the appropriate running of the peace accord vote. Project activities include: (1) conducting a preliminary visit of the Chief and Deputy Chief of Mission to Colombia to meet with vote authorities civil society organizations and diplomatic corps accredited to Colombia and agree on the procedures for the EOM; (2) deploying a mobile group of three people to travel in Colombia to observe the development of the campaigns and observe the pre-voting process; (3) deploying 17 short-term regional coordinators and 40 international observers to gather information and observe the voting process; (4) conducting a follow-up report after the vote presented by the Chief of Mission to the OAS Permanent Council detailing the EOM’s observations conclusions and recommendations; and (5) conducting a follow up visit of the EOM to Colombia to present the results of the observation and to follow-up on key recommendations in the report.
Expected Results
The expected outcome for this project is improved public acceptance of the peace agreement and buy-in for the peace implementation.
