Project Description
This grant represents Canada’s institutional support to the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The DAC uses these funds along with other donors’ funding to achieve its mandate. The DAC’s mandate is to promote development co-operation including pro-poor economic growth poverty reduction and improvement of living standards in developing countries. The DAC contributes to advancing Canada’s international development objectives through among other things its work on aid effectiveness modernizing development finance and tracking the impact of development cooperation from diverse stakeholders (e.g. private sector emerging donors and philanthropic organizations).
Expected Results
The expected results as stated by the DAC include (1) modernized definition of ODA and total official support for development; (2) enhanced understanding of how development cooperation can leverage private sector financing for development; (3) evidence-based approaches to peace-building in fragile and conflict affected states; (4) more effective development partnerships; and (5) better functioning of the thematic networks in particular the Gender and Governance networks
