Project Description
The Gender Coordination Group established in 2008 in Colombia is an important element of Colombia's donor coordination architecture. It gathers 43 organizations including bilateral and multilateral donors United Nations agencies and international non-governmental organizations to coordinate advocacy and development cooperation efforts focused on gender equality and women's rights. The Group facilitates policy dialogue with key Government of Colombia decision-makers and advances policy reforms that improve gender equality in Colombia. The project supports research and knowledge- sharing activities that strengthen the participation of women in peacebuilding efforts support the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence and help integrate gender considerations into national and local development plans and priorities.
Expected Results
The expected results for this project include: (1) improved implementation of the gender-related Sustainable Development Goals at a local level in Columbia placing emphasis on the inclusive economic development of rural women; and (2) strengthened role of women in peace building and peace implementation.
