Project Description

With the support of Canada and other donors the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations is contributing to peacekeeping training by designing and delivering the UN Senior Mission Leaders Course (UNSML). The aim of the UNSML is to identify and prepare potential and current senior mission leaders to undertake the responsibilities of senior leadership positions in UN peacekeeping operations. Project activities include: (1) the development and delivery of three courses to military police and civilian participants; and (2) mentoring of participants for senior positions in UN peacekeeping missions and headquarters.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) an increased understanding of UN peacekeeping missions; (2) enhanced operational efficiency of UN missions; (3) an increased number of trained senior leaders to be deployed to UN peacekeeping missions; and (4) improved service delivery to vulnerable populations.
