Promotion of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Nutrition for Adolescent Girls

Results achieved as of the end of the project (January 2022) include: (1) improved quality of sexual and reproductive health services provided to adolescents through the training of 840 health workers including 561 women in the 29 districts covered by the adolescent sexual and reproductive health orientation program initiative. Of the 840 health workers trained 594 providers (70.71%) including 417 women obtained a score of at least 85% on the post-test allowing them to attend the training sessions. Since the beginning of the project in 2018 448 supervised health worker trainings have been carried out; (2) by the end of the project 230 teachers (including 56 women) will have been trained on the sexual and reproductive rights of adolescent girls and gender equality; (3) the creation of 1 508 school clubs comprising 7 800 members in the 66 partner institutions to improve adolescents’ knowledge and skills with respect to sexual and reproductive health gender equality and their related rights; (4) There were 12 youth counselling centres and 6 school infirmaries that received equipment to maintain clinical and recreational activities in these adolescent centres even after the project came to an end. Communication kits to promote the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and youth were received by 889 health centres; (5) the call centre received 81 986 calls—90% of the questions asked by adolescent girls and youth were concerning sexual and reproductive health in general and family planning in particular; and (6) routine activities that integrated sexual and reproductive health services were maintained by 36 voluntary HIV testing centres.
