Progress & Results Achieved

Results achieved include: (1) the successful design of a randomized control trial in Kenya Somalia and South Sudan; (2) to the best of our knowledge this is the first time that sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) prevention methods have undergone a randomized control trial to test their effectiveness to reduce SGBV in Fragile and Conflict Affected States (FCAS); (3) a baseline was established for key indicators in Kenya Somalia and South Sudan to help assess the effectiveness of these prevention methods; (4) in South Sudan the partner adapted their school-based training to develop a community-based approach curriculum. This comes as a response to the growing need to prevent SGBV in the community at large; (5) 113 school teachers were trained in Empowerment Transformation Training (ETT) SGBV prevention in South Sudan; (6) 53 595 boys and girls received ETT on SGBV prevention; and (7) over 12 000 of these beneficiaries are voluntarily participating in the multi-county randomized control trial to better inform a broader community of practice about what works to prevent SGBV in FCAS.
