Project Description
The project aims to improve local national and regional security and stability by addressing Illicit use and flow of arms and ammunition. The project works in close cooperation with local authorities in Mali Burkina Faso and Niger to develop and strengthen their capacity to safely manage store and monitor weapons and ammunition. Activities are providing support for progressing towards these governments' strategic objectives to better control the use and flow of small arms and light weapons and towards the Sustainable Development Goal 16 which includes significant reduction of illicit arms flows by 2030.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) reduced risk of small arms and light weapons proliferation; (2) increased capacity of national security forces for arms management and destruction practices; and (3) increased accountability and governance in the security sector.
