Project Description
This initiative provides support to Canadian monitors working with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. Upon the completion of the screening of candidates the partner provides Canadian monitors being deployed with pre-deployment training on issues such as gender equality and contributes logistics and other duty of care support. Project activities include: (1) recruiting and selecting Canadian monitors; (2) organizing an in-person pre-deployment training session and in-country duty of care meetings including on-going secondment support; and (3) mission adaptation and personnel support/duty of care. Canada continues to support the people of Ukraine its sovereignty and territorial integrity and its reform efforts.
Expected Results
This initiative provides support to Canadian monitors working with the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine including pre-deployment training and other duty of care support.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of April 2021 include: (1) the screening of applications for OSCE review and selection; (2) pre-deployment briefings and trainings; and (3) the provision of duty-of-care support. Canadians deployed through this project are assisting the OSCE to achieve its main tasks of observing and reporting in an impartial and objective way on the situation in Ukraine and facilitating dialogue among all parties to the crisis.
